Questions/Answers
What is Popotine made of? And where do the materials come from?
Popotine is made from bio-sourced raw materials (such as PLA, derived from corn starch or cane sugar) and/or renewable materials such as cellulose fibers from sustainably managed forests in Europe. The cellulose in the absorbent core is TCF (totally chlorine free) and also comes from Europe. The superabsorbent used in our diaper is partially biosourced.
What is VEOCEL™, the fiber used mainly in Popotine diapers?
VEOCEL™ is a natural cellulose fiber, whose raw material comes from wood from sustainably managed forests (FSC and PEFC labels) and is therefore renewable. It's an alternative to petroleum-based synthetic fibers. The fiber used in Popotine is manufactured and processed in Austria, under responsible production conditions that have a low ecological impact thanks to reduced water consumption and low carbon emissions. It is naturally soft to the skin and biodegradable.
Can I put the soiled diapers in the childcare’s biowaste bin or in the biowaste bin at home?
No! Our compostable diapers must be collected and industrially composted: this is a process under controlled conditions on an industrial composting facility, that has the agreements to receive this waste full of excreta.
We must be able to ensure that the temperature has exceed 55°C for at least 14 days or 60° C for 7 days, or 65°C during 3 days or 70°C during 24 hours, in order to guarantee hygienization and therefore harmlessness.
How can we use the compost made of our soiled diapers?
When the composting process is complete, a sample of the compost is analyzed by a laboratory. With the agreement of the authorities, we can use this compost for agricultural applications.
Where is Popotine manufactured?
Our Popotine diapers are produced in France, in the Vosges region.
How do you collect our diapers after use?
We work locally, in each region, with companies or associations who are specialists in waste collection and who organize the loop according to your needs (number of bins, frequency of collection, etc.). Our aim is to work with local partners who will be able to collect used diapers over the long term.
What is the difference between “compostable” and “biodegradable"?
It's a question of time! Everything biodegrades over time. For example, a conventional petroleum-based diaper will biodegrade in 500 years.... To be “industrially compostable”, a diaper must, among other criteria, transform into compost in less than 6 months.
How do you know if your diaper is effective and of good quality?
Our Popotine diaper has been developed for over 5 years. We also tested it for nearly 2 years in numerous childcare centers in France. We were able to improve our prototypes thanks to all the tests we made on it. Over 3,000 children in more than 130 daycare centers have used and continue to use our Popotine diapers on a daily basis.
How to pick up the right size?
You'll find below a size guide for your children:
What to do in case of leaks?
Don't worry, if there are leaks it's because your baby's diaper is either too small or too big. We advise you to check your baby's weight and adapt the size.
