What is VEOCEL™, the cellulosic fiber used in Popotine diapers? How is it manufactured?

VEOCEL™ fibers are wood-based, derived from renewable wood sources through a pulping process and finally made into fibers. VEOCEL™ fibers bring the inherent advantages of cellulose to personal care and hygiene products: natural absorbency, liquid distribution, biodegradability and versatility.

The raw material for the fibers is derived from wood sources grown in responsibly managed forests*.

VEOCEL™ branded fibers are manufactured with high production standards and with low emissions to air and water**, thereby safeguarding resources for future generations.

In our Popotine diapers, you will find two kinds of cellulosic fibers, from different manufacturing processes: VEOCEL™ Viscose and VEOCEL™ Lyocell.

VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers are cellulosic fibers derived from responsibly managed forests. These VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers are gentle on skin and naturally smooth, providing comfort for skin. What is more, wood-based fibers are naturally smooth, absorbent and provide a gentle touch to intimate care products.

Originating from wood, VEOCEL™ Viscose naturally attract and absorb water, which contributes to effective and efficient liquid absorption in nonwoven products.
VEOCEL™ Viscose fibers produced with Care technology offer responsibly produced viscose fibers with low environmental impact due to reduced carbon emissions and water usage (calculated using Higg Materials Sustainability Index**).

VEOCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG, located in Austria.

(*following the stringent guidelines of the Lenzing Wood and Pulp Policy and applying trusted forest certification systems. Please refer to Lenzing Wood & Pulp Policy on their website. Every process follows the guidelines of the Lenzing Wood and Pulp Policy and apply trusted forest certification systems. ** These results were calculated using the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (Higg MSI) tools provided by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition. The Higg MSI tools assess impacts of materials from cradle-to-gate for a finished material (e.g. to the point at which the materials are ready to be assembled into a product). However, this figure only shows impacts from cradle to fiber production gate. VEOCEL™ branded fibers’ LCA results are represented by TENCEL™/ECOVERO™ data based on Higg MSI database v3.7 (December, 2023).
